PARK PLACE
Park Place is an urban-styled mixed use community in Leawood, Kansas, characterized by Mayor Peggy Dunn as Leawood’s downtown. The upscale community includes 125,000 square feet of specialty boutique retail and restaurants, 350,000 square feet of Class A office space, 177 luxury apartments and townhomes, and a 154 room Aloft Hotel on 17 acres.
Wide sidewalks and extensive landscaping set Park Place apart, and its buildings display a variety of architectural styles ranging from contemporary to “old downtown Chicago.” Park Place boasts Barkley Square which serves as a gathering place for special events, outdoor concerts, and farmers’ markets during warmer months, and Johnson County’s only outdoor ice rink from November thru February.
Home to a variety of corporate offices, Park Place is the location of AMC Theatres’ US corporate headquarters. Parking is provided in three multi-level parking structures for the commercial uses and dedicated structured parking for the residential uses. The first phase opened in mid-2008; five acres of the site are still under development.
